Tuesday's Random Thoughts: #99

This is my 99th Post!! Brought to you by Keely at the Superheroine blog, the Un-Mom. And brought to you by the letter 'R'. And the smiling cherub at the end.

I have completely lost my voice. This isn't a random thought, it's a random fact. I sound like a barking seal when I talk. The machine-like robotic grocery-checkout-gal did a double take. On the phone, my mom didn't know who I was. The worst part: it is physically impossible to sound threatening when every other word is a whisper. The dogs and toddler have completely lost respect of my authority. I saw my yellow Lab roll her eyes at me today. (But she is really insolent sometimes.)

Don't buses have the most unusually unique braking sound? They do. When you hear it coming, careening around the corner, you just know it's a big yella' school bus.

Is it just me, or does it seem like most technological innovation has stalled in the U.S. for a time? Let's not count the iPhone, or Wii. Those are fun toys. We're still behind in cell phone banking, unlike Western European countries, and nearly all of Asia. Social networking/media seems to be the most significant innovation stateside in some time.
My husband insists that I include his addendum to that last point: do we really need to BANK on our cell phones? Can that transfer really NOT WAIT, that we have to do it on our PHONES?

Speaking of lightening fast banking needs, hip, hip, HOORAY for the market rally today! And hooray for me selling my winner (BAC two weeks ago: $3.65; BAC sold today: $7.40.) I do NOT recommend putting any capital at risk that you can not risk losing. At least short term.

Grocery store chains seem to be doing more lately to win my business. I have my pick of at least 10 major stores within a 2-3 mile radius, and each time they have new and innovative ways of winning my loyalty. I got five bucks off my bill today, for some Safeway game they were playing!

He did this himself. Then let me know how pleased he was with his innovation.
I think we're going to have to suck it up and buy a minivan. END OF POST. END OF YOUR LIFE. THANKS FOR PLAYIN'.

Congrats on 99 and then 100! You need 99 red balloons now if it's brought to you by the letter "r".

Sorry to hear about your voice, really. I recently lost mine, along with the ability to scold my toddler/dogs or husband and it was dreadful.

I'm digging the shamrock picture. What a cutie!

FoN March 23, 2009 at 8:24 PM

Adorable picture! And, congrats on the money - really nice going. And on your 99th post. How about just an all around 'yay you'? Yay, you!

I heart Keely. So I will also be hearting you.
I have no idea what a big yellow school bus sounds like...but give me 4 years. Maybe 6...it all really depends on how much I am clingy to my son at that time.

I heart you even more now that I know you love to trade. Here's my scenario end of last year... BSC (Bear Stears. Yes, right after they at shit) at $4. Sold for $14.40. My husband had a very lovely evening that night.

And WTF? I go to Vons, which is Safeway. And the only games going on are "hit the idiots in the parking lot!" Okay, soooo grapes were 69 cents a pound. It takes more than that!

Stopping by to wish a big welcome to the SITSahood! I am totally stoked you joined! I look forward to loving you more each post! =)

Back when Anne was small, I used to get tonsilitis a lot, while she was subject to ear infections. Hard to communicate with a two year old when you can't yell and she can't hear.

Sandy March 24, 2009 at 4:39 AM

Cute pic!

I would hear that bus and be racing down the street to catch it. Thank god for that strange sound or I would have missed it everyday;0)

Welcome to SITS! It's great to have you in the SITStahood:0)

Finally bought a mini van- after my kids were adults! I love the darn thing! 99? Good for you!

septembermom March 24, 2009 at 6:52 AM

My family loves when I lose my voice! They get a kick out of pretending they don't know what I'm saying. My hubby thinks he is free of potential lectures and my kids think they can get away with anything. I have to resort to giving those "threatening" looks. Not as effective, but I get my point across. Hooray for 99, that's great!
Super adorable picture of your little guy too!!

Sometimes Sophia March 24, 2009 at 6:53 AM

Congrats on #99. Another big post coming up soon... Very cute and clever little guy. Must take after his mom.

♥ Kathy March 24, 2009 at 7:31 AM

lol @ your dog rolling her eyes :p

Peggy March 24, 2009 at 7:45 AM

Congratulations on the 99 posts! I only have 98 to catch up on now! :)

Obviously, I'm a new reader...And you are so getting rolled just for that adorable picture alone!

What is this SITS that your minions keep talking about?

Beth March 24, 2009 at 8:01 AM

Welcome to the world of mini-vans!! You are going to love it once you get it. I LOVE mine!! They are so much more comfortable on the inside. I swore I'd never get one, but you can't beat all the space inside. The dogs will love it too!

Michelle March 24, 2009 at 8:25 AM

Oh my...that's a hoot. Just swinging by from SITS spreading some bloggy love. Hope you have a great day!!

Anonymous,  March 24, 2009 at 10:49 AM

Love the sticker.

I've been thinking about a mini van or something else large lately. It scares me.

Hope the voice improves soon.

Congrats on the excellent stock work.

GreenJello March 24, 2009 at 10:53 AM

I went for the SUV instead of the mini-van. :)

Stacy Uncorked March 24, 2009 at 10:58 AM

What did you say? I couldn't quite hear you... ;) Hope you feel better soon and regain your voice so your dog doesn't roll her eyes at you anymore... LOVE that picture! He should be pleased with his innovation... ;) I agree about the big yella' school bus - Princess Nagger's bus has the loudest brakes when it stops out front to pick her up...almost need ear plugs for that one! ;)

Happy RTT! :)

Anonymous,  March 24, 2009 at 11:16 AM

No to the minivan. Don't give in to that type of madness, I beg of you.

I live next to a school so I know exactly what you're talking about with the bus brakes. Why is it that way though?

I'm laughing at your voice. I'm insolent too.

Jenni March 24, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Sorry about your voice...I hate when I lose mine because I never shut up!

Kim March 24, 2009 at 1:11 PM

Love your boy!!!! He is sooooo cute. I agree with you about banking over the phone. Honestly!

Just before the iphone came out here in Canada, my friend from India began sending all of her emails via iPhone. We're behind here too:)

Ginny Marie March 24, 2009 at 1:49 PM

I resisted...but now I love my minivan! It's so much easier with two car seats than my old station wagon.

Anonymous,  March 24, 2009 at 2:57 PM

Anyone ever tell you that your son looks really Irish?

What?

I couldn't hear you...;)

Mrs. Jelly Belly March 24, 2009 at 3:58 PM

Your son is adorable! And I wish I had grocery stores competing for my business. We only have two and I don't think either of them really want us.

Dropping by to welcome you to SITS - glad to have you join us!

Keely March 24, 2009 at 5:10 PM

Noooooo not a minivan!!! You know they make that same braking sound...

I don't know why we would need to bank on our phones, either. I took a survey recently that suggested the newest innovation was to be able to essentially TEXT money to your friend. Like, if I owe you five bucks, I can just text it into your bank account. Um, frightening?

Why don't they just implant the microchip in our wrists right now?

March 24, 2009 at 6:12 PM

What an adorable fellow you have!

I just wanted to stop by and say welcome to the SITS comunity, it's great having you as a SITSta!

Just Lisa March 24, 2009 at 6:39 PM

Stopping by to welcome you to SITS. I just reached my 100th post and am having a giveaway. Come check it out if you are interested :)

Unknown March 25, 2009 at 8:36 AM

This has to be the most random post I've read. :) I don't feel the need to bank on my phone but I do bank online.

And I have that hoarsey barky cold thing goin on too. Miserable. Thankfully my dogs haven't rolled their eyes yet though. :)

Anonymous,  March 25, 2009 at 8:51 AM

Ha! So I'm back because I thought I'd give you the offical SITS welcome even though I comment all the time.

SITS is great - it really is how I've grown my blog.

Judah March 25, 2009 at 7:29 PM

H.K. March 26, 2009 at 7:05 AM

Wow, 99th post...Congratulations! Sorry about your voice...at least it's a unique sound.

Jenners March 26, 2009 at 7:47 AM

Woo hoo! 99 -- soon to be 100. I'm sure you are working on something cute. Mine is coming up next week maybe ... I'm doing the 100 things post I've been dying to do since I started blogging. I thought you HAD to wait until 100 posts to do it ... what a nerd I am.

I love the line about your insolent dog. Cracked me up.

And you are so right about schoolbuses ... I can always tell when one is coming.

And your little cutie is so cute -- and so self-satisifed!

Brandy March 26, 2009 at 9:06 AM

Cute picture!

I love that the stores are doing deals to get my business! I'm a huge couponer so it's like an aphrodisiac to me.

I'm not ashamed to say that...but maybe I should be. [:

Welcome to SITS!

Debbie March 27, 2009 at 5:35 PM

A minivan is not the worst thing! Mine has been a lifesaver.

Anna Lefler March 28, 2009 at 12:34 PM

That's it. I'm putting a sticker on my forehead now.

(I'm very impressionable.)

Have a great weekend!

:^) Anna
